Leslie Yoo, founder

Speech Therapist, Private Therapy, Rehab Therapist, Dysphagia Specialist

With over 12 years of experience in both developmental and medical settings, I have dedicated my career to helping families navigate the challenges and celebrate the milestones of communication. My work spans the entire lifespan, from helping babies and toddlers reach their first words, to supporting school-aged children as they build confidence and communication skills, to guiding adults through recovery from speech, language, cognitive-communication, or swallowing challenges after illness or injury.

I have extensive experience in the inpatient rehabilitation setting, where I served as the lead speech therapist for many years. In that role, I guided my team through complex cases, led in-services for families and multidisciplinary teams, and coordinated care to ensure every patient’s needs were met with compassion and expertise. I also worked closely with the unit directors at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital in the PICU, NICU, and Pediatric Oncology units, supporting children and families during some of their most challenging and vulnerable moments.

As a mother of two and someone who grew up in a large, close-knit family, I understand the many personalities, needs, and energy levels that come with little ones. My pediatric experience includes early education settings, in-home and private speech therapy, and leading specialized camps and groups throughout the Los Angeles area. I bring patience, empathy, and genuine connection to every session, creating therapy that feels like play while building the skills children need to thrive.

For adults, my approach is practical, respectful, and empowering, with strategies that can be applied immediately in daily life for meaningful change. In every case, my goal is for therapy to feel like a partnership where families know they are seen, heard, and supported.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA, a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science in Medical Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Washington. Beyond my academic achievements and professional experience, what matters most to me is the trust families place in me. I have made it my life’s work to walk alongside parents, caregivers, and individuals, offering guidance, encouragement, and expertise every step of the way.

I founded Kin Speech Therapy to be more than a place for treatment. It is a space where families can breathe a little easier, knowing they have someone in their corner. Whether you are navigating the early days of parenthood, advocating for your child, or helping a loved one find their voice again, you are not alone here.

Every voice matters and every voice deserves to be heard.
